Considering a large percentage of waitstaff in Parisian restaurants are foreigners, the stereotype of "rude French waiters" really just comes from ignorant American tourists who can't tell the difference between nationalities. The French may bitch and moan and protest when their pathetically short work week increases by an hour due to austerity measures, but they're definitely not rude.
